Memphis

What a riot....Beale St. Lots of places to hear music and eat...and drink.
BB King's place.
Lunch with Shana (on right) and her friend. Note Nancy
balancing platter on her head. Superior Cafe on Beale St.
The lobby of the Gibson factory building. There were a
couple of guitars with $10,000 price tags for sale.
The famous Peabody Hotel ducks.
Back in the 1930's Frank Schutt, GM of the Peabody Hotel and a friend returned from a weekend hunting trip to Arkansas. The men had a little too much Tennessee sippin' whiskey and thought it would be funny to place some of their live duck decoys in the beautiful Peabody fountain.
Three small English call ducks were selected as "guinea pigs" and the reaction was nothing short of enthusiastic. Thus began a Peabody tradition which was to become internationally famous.
The original ducks have long since gone, but after more than 76 years, the marble fountain in the hotel lobby is still graced with ducks. Today the Mallards live in the fountain during the day and then a red carpet is rolled out to the beautiful adorned elevator and at 5pm every night, they march in and ride up to the solarium where the "duck palace" awaits.
What the life!!! At 11 am, they ride down with their duck master back to the fountain.
The Duck Master.
